I remember a specific weekend afternoon where I walked the halls of my grandmother’s house searching for my nephew. It was then that I turned the corner into the kitchen— the baby planted on the uneven tile floors looking around the room amazed, closely accompanied by the twin family cats.Upon laying my eyes on the three of them I was overcome with an immediate boost of serotonin and a smile on my face as I stood at the door frame admiring the sight.
I experimented with two different mediums of paint to capture different texture and depths. I used acrylic to capture the rustic interior of the kitchen as well as the rough yet distinct texture of the cat’s fur. While I opted for watercolor, as I personally find this medium the best, to capture the soft yet vibrant tones of the baby.
