What the piece is about - The piece is about Jill Valentine, overcoming what seems to be an insurmountable obstacle, The Nemesis, a bioweapon who’s set its sights on exterminating her. It’s a Postmodern expression that takes place during the zombie apocalypse in Raccoon City. What inspired me was the video game franchise, Resident Evil. Specifically two of its characters, Jill Valentine and The Nemesis.

The reason why is that I’ve always admired Jill Valentine’s courage even when she’s against impossible odds. Furthermore, death and destruction are two themes that have always intrigued me so I implemented these themes into my work.

I started off by sketching out a simple background in one-point perspective to establish a foundation. I also studied the characters in-game and looked at models of them online. After that, I roughly sketched the poses I would put the characters in. Once I got everything laid out, I started working on the details.
