Being imaginative, I discovered that the best method to present both my ideas and myself was through art. I’ve always loved the phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words," which motivated me to produce artwork with a multitude of details, values, and colors to tell a story. Besides creating art to express messages and to put smiles on people's faces, I also aim to spread happiness and kindness as a person and as an artist.
I’m most adept in working with ink pens, color pencils, and markers, while painting is one of my less-experienced mediums. This year, I utilized Posca paint pens, a blend of both, to combine my favorite medium, ink pens, and to practice painting.
I wanted to incorporate my love of music into my painting, so I came up with Animal Noises, which was inspired by a song, also titled Animal Noises, by my favorite musician, Beabadoobee. The song is about the fear of growing up, where you’re expected to act like an adult and can no longer act childishly or you’d be ridiculed by others. This song is precious to me because I dread growing up, and being judged by others, so I wanted to do this painting as a piece to get over my fear. To encourage myself and others who fear growing up to smile rather than fear the future, I merged all of my favorite things – architecture, nature, and animals to create a peaceful setting where you can see yourself in that scenery. Now, whenever I hear the song, I picture the scene in my painting, and instead of stressing over the future, I find myself grinning with excitement.
