This piece is a representation of my brain. I used modeling clay to make the brain, and painted the background and the brain with acrylic paint. I then thought to represent the different parts of the brain that pertains to me. I chose the parts that control balance, fight or flight, sight, sensation on skin, sense of smell, hearing, and concentration. For balance, I painted a person falling from a tight rope because one of my biggest fears is the fear of falling, which is caused by my poor balance. With fight or flight I actually chose freeze because I typically freeze in those kinds of situations. I'm very sensitive to textures, so for the sensation on my skin I tried to represent when I touch something that I don't like. My sense of smell is very sensitive as well, so it makes sense that they are very strong, almost painful to smell. Loud noises have always been a major trigger for my anxiety, which is what I created for hearing. Lastly, I painted a person being unable to focus because I find it really difficult to focus on anything, especially school.
