This watercolor painting is about a young woman who is holding on to her innocence. In this piece, innocence is represented by swans and they are heavy. She shows a serene expression, however she feels troubled deep inside. The young woman knows that she can’t hold on to these beautiful birds forever, for they are heavy and will eventually tire out her arms, no matter the drive of wanting to keep them. It is growth that prevents innocence from being a part of someone forever. Even though she is surrounded by the beauty and brightness of nature, the day will eventually be night. Things change just as the sky changes color, just as she won’t be who she once was. Some things last a long time.
