I have always been fascinated with human emotions, specifically emotions that can be expressed through the eyes. There is a saying that "eyes are the window to the soul"-- they reflect our emotions and show them in the most genuine way possible. I wanted to combine this fascination with another–that other fascination being the style of art that is eerie or disturbing to look at. I wanted to make something in that style so that it will get some sort of reaction from anyone who views my painting. With this combination I was able to make an eye with a tired expression while also looking a bit unsettling.
