Ernesto Duarte Hernandez

North Monterey County High School

Junior

My name is Ernesto Duarte Hernandez and I'm currently a Junior at North Monterey County high School. After some time thinking I had decided on what I was going to paint, but as time went on, with other things that I had to do I had to slowly change everything to be the way that it had to be. There were a few things that influenced the artwork.

Looking at my painting, there were some places that I liked the  look of and I wanted to go for an aesthetic related to it, but because I was on a tight schedule I had to reduce the range that was going to be given . Out of everything that I have learned so far, one thing that stood out to me and that helped me was focusing on the details. Detail is one thing that I know, but it’s also the thing that I either spend too much time on or don’t. As you can see, the medium that was used was acrylic paint. I know close to nothing about painting. Although painting might not be something I am good at now, practicing as well as learning more about it will make me a better artist.  This artwork is simple,  but it can also represent many things depending on the person’s point of view. The scene depicts an open outdoors view of the moon with the stars behind it while one stands on the hard surface of a rocky terrain.
