Art has always been a creative way for me to illuminate the way that I view life around me. There are so many different people, sights, and little moments that I find utterly beautiful, and I love that painting gives me the power to capture those things from my perspective.
While I have dabbled in many different mediums, I tend to gravitate toward acrylic paint because it is easy to control while still allowing a certain amount of fluidity and flexibility. I have done art my whole life and don’t have any specific themes I focus on; instead, just let myself go wherever my creativity takes me. I love painting because of the freeing feeling that I get when I can express myself and my mind’s eye.
This piece was inspired by an old photo album that I found when looking through my father’s bookshelves. I found a photo of my mother in her twenties and I couldn’t help but stare at it in awe. Everything about the composition, from the gentle fly-aways of her curly hair to the field of soft yellow flowers, perfectly represented the way I picture her. She is the most beautiful person in my life, and the delicacy of the photo seemed to encapsulate her loving and endearing personality. I knew as soon as I saw it that I had to recreate it, in hopes of capturing her dazzling essence.
