As an artist, I am self-centered; I’m only ever focused when I’m painting, especially when it comes to painting greenery or nature in general. I love to include nature in my pieces. I love how the color green complements my piece and adore tropical views or overgrown, messy gardens. Over the years, I’ve learned to love watercolor and the way it gives a painting a whole different look and feeling when compared to another type of medium. In my experience with watercolor, it’s calming and easy to fix small mistakes.
Although I’m not a master of using the medium, my ultimate goal is to learn new techniques and ways to paint with it as well as continue to paint nice views of nature.
This painting was a reference to a studio Ghibli movie, “Porco Rosso”. When I watched it as a kid I fell in love with the beauty of the background. At times I would admire the background instead of the actual movie. When thinking of my new project, I didn’t hesitate and started working on this piece immediately. When I paint, I don’t tend to rush it and instead, enjoy it. I’ve personally learned that my work has a better outcome when I relax. I don’t like stress especially when I’m doing what I love.
