My name is Lillian Martinez.  I’m a senior at Marina High School. I mainly work in acrylic painting. As an artist I want to add deeper meaning into my work and to get away from creating pieces without meaning. Lately, I’ve been exploring landscapes in my artwork. In particular, I’ve been focusing on using texture in my pieces. For this show I decided to paint a snowy landscape scene and wanted to explore light using minimal shapes. I feel like this piece demonstrates a sense of calm but also loneliness. I noticed that when I was working on this painting I really struggled on letting go. With my dad’s encouragement I added the snow on the mountains.
