From an early age, I discovered that art is a passion of mine. It is a way I can express my creativity and imagination and bring it into real life. Many of my pieces are extremely vibrant; full of colors, value, and encased in numerous details. I do this to capture the viewer’s attention and, depending on the colors I use, show my feelings or create an important message I want to convey towards the audience.
My main mediums are markers and colored pencils, however, given the wooden canvas, I knew I wanted to use painting. Rather than using the traditional brush and paint, I wanted to try something new and experiment with Posca paint pens. This was a great choice because it let me combine my main medium, markers, and try out painting, at once.
My painting, entitled, “Earth’s Bliss”, is an illustration of a path leading to a captivating scenery of a small gazebo surrounded by many beautiful & various types of flowers. During quarantine, not being able to go out without worrying about getting sick, caused me to stay at home, and feel sad, as I was trapped inside my room everyday. This made me daydream for a place I could escape to, which led to my piece, “Earth’s Bliss”. I painted this as a way for me to stop feeling trapped and instead, feel happy. I included my daydream as my main idea: a place I could escape to, and added things I love: nature, I adore viewing earth’s creations; architecture: I love looking at structures; and scenery: as they’re beautiful to view. This art piece has fulfilled its goal; made me feel blissful, and helped me try out a new medium: paint pens, causing me to also grow as an artist.
