To start, my name is Ryan Tinnin. As an artist, I work by myself. Art is a personal thing to me, so I like to have full control over what I create. I prefer to work on paper because it’s easier to feel what you’re doing. In the future, I want to use this art as a release, and as a part-time job. My art is meant to invoke a variety of emotions and sometimes provide some sort of sense of comfort. As a person, I aspire to be someone who could provide people with everything necessary for them to live comfortably with their own identities.

I have a fascination with life and death, so I try to incorporate those ideas into my art. Also, I have a love for nature, so I work a lot with landscapes. I focus on the idea of balance and incorporate both dark and light imagery. Art is a part of me, both visual and audible art, so it’s personal to me. Due to this attachment I have to art, I try to show parts of myself as much as I can.

Currently, I focus on audio art like music, but still  work on visual art through my classes and free time. In this piece, I was told to enhance a previously existing Loteria card, so I chose “La Muerte” because it aligns with my fascinations. The original card was bland, and only showed the dark tones of death. Not only did I enhance the design of La Muerte, but I also added bright colors and roses to represent the strong emotions felt through life and death. Personally, I excel more in audio art, so it's challenging for me to draw what I’m feeling sometimes.
