My painting was made with both paint and ink. I thought using ink would be great to add small details. My painting represents my spiritual beliefs, the woman with bright colors represents my ego. I see my ego think that they are better than everyone else, and are too likable. While my higher self has darker colors, with relaxation it looks down to my ego. My higher self shuts my ego’s thoughts, knowing that if it gets out of control, it will cause chaos. I named it Tiger Inside because sometimes in my head it feels like there's a battle and I'm a tiger trying to win.

My name is Gizela Flores. I’m seventeen years old and attend Everett Alvarez High. I’m from a small town known as Salinas. I love painting, it honestly relaxes me and helps express how I feel. When I look at my art I don’t see it as appealing, I just see my feelings. It makes me feel uncomfortable, that my emotions are so readable, but at the same time I think it's amazing to put feeling into a painting.
