Coalescence depicts a cryoglyphic story of an errant sylph sprite and a forbidden odyssey to the stars.

Taking AP Studio Art at York this year has been such a joy. I've had the opportunity to craft a world uniquely of my own and realize it through my sustained investigation. I think it's great fun to come up with stories like this, telling ancient myths of ephemeral worlds and legendary beings. I just love it.

Coalescence is the final panel in the sequence of artworks that makes up my greater AP Art portfolio. It is based upon a personally constructed fictional story in which each panel can be arranged sequentially, to view a larger scene that depicts the odyssey in full. I had a lot of fun with this artwork, utilizing laser cut & etched elements, clear acrylic sheets, and ink to create the final effect. This technique was very new to me, I am a digital artist at heart, and I love 3D. This piece, I feel, was an attempt at merging my digital sculptures and environments with real, physical materials. Trying to capture the feeling I wanted was challenging, but I had an immense amount of excitement figuring out the structure and flow of all the pieces together.

This piece, along with many others, evolved as I began. I'm excited to have my work in the show! I hope that you enjoy the story of Coalescence!

“A great wind. It is in silvered strings that grace the dunes their great shape. This is the story of a desecration.”
