I love making art because it is the one thing that drives me further away from my thoughts. When I go through tough times, my hand finds its way to a pencil, as if by natural instinct. One day, I want to make something that not only makes me feel joy as the artist, but connects to others in the world, the way that fairytales have.

When I create my pieces, I often prefer to use alcohol markers, pens, and colored pencils. My least favorite art medium would be acrylic painting because I am not as skilled in it.

Prior to this show I have been in a severe art block.   I’ve been unsatisfied with my work. I am proud to say that the pattern has been broken this time. In my submission called “Lovely Dream”, I stepped out of my comfort zone by painting with acrylics for once, and I feel very proud of myself for doing so. The process was difficult, but I pushed through it and trusted the process. It took many hours. I chose the concept of it after a dream, one where my best friend and I were in a flowery meadow. In that dream, there were no deadlines or assignments to deal with, no stress or anxiety about our current lives. At the time of creation, I was dealing with a lot, and I figured that a positive attitude would be necessary in my piece. I wanted to convey the importance of friendship and how it can impact your life. When I am with my best friend, my stress goes away and I am far more relaxed. She is a dream come true, and I am so proud of her. My best friend is the reason I am entering For the Love Of Art; not only because she convinced me to, but because she is a tapestry of what makes my life happier.
