Senior
My name is Ashley Serrano, I am a senior in North Salinas High School. In this piece I explore and highlight the stage of creativity, tracing back to my childhood. A time for when the world was a canvas waiting to be filled with creativity, color, and imagination. The painting captures not only the initial colorful bursts of inspiration and creativity, but also the sense of nostalgia, capturing where the act of painting was a magical escape. During our first stage of creativity, every brushstroke represents the fun and unpredictableness of the creative process, where there are no boundaries or limitations. That's why the vibrant color swirls symbolize the infinite potential that exists in the first stage of creation. This is why I decided to paint myself as a little girl. White painting, I was filled with nostalgia at the memory of playing with my Barbie dolls and being ready to create any fun creative art pieces, whether it be from crayons, markers, chalk, watercolor etc. This painting is a tribute to my younger self and the timeless beauty of childhood creativity.
