Hello, My name is Eden Morillo. I am a junior at Pacific Grove High School. I have been making art ever since I can remember and I make art for the love of it! I aspire to create a different and unique style of art heavily based on impressionists like Amedeo Modigliani and Pierre Bonnard. A goal of mine is to go to art school after graduating.
I prefer to paint with acrylic paint, but I work with other materials such as graphite, charcoal, watercolor, gouache, clay, and pen. I work with acrylic for a couple of reasons. The first being that it dries fast so I can keep layering paint down until the piece is finished.

The second being that it has a vibrancy and texture that other paints do not have. I particularly love to create different techniques using paint. I dry brush paint onto my paintings as well as unify them by using my colors everywhere. If there is yellow in the skin, the yellow will be everywhere else in the painting.

Lately, I have been experimenting with creating my own characters. “Lost in Thought” is the most recent character I have created. I gave this character a feeling of serenity, yet she is still concentrated on her book. When I got my canvas, I started to sketch and came up with “Lost in thought”. This painting is all about losing yourself when you find a special book. The most challenging part of this piece was the coloring of it. I had to make different colors work together without the painting feeling overwhelming. When I work, I study other artists for coloring and lighting because it gives me new ideas to make a painting more emotional.
